ANALYZING THE FAKE DMCA
Google found this convincing and removed the Moneylife.in article from its search results.
So lets analyze the claims and the authenticity of this report
1- indianat.890m.com is a FREE DOMAIN, hosted for FREE by hostinger.com. We are in touch with them to get the owner’s details, and any IP log if possible.
2- Let’s check out http://indianat.890m.com/about/ to know more about them. They mention quite a few names and details. However, we now know that this entire page has been copied from http://www.indiawest.com/site/about.html. Word by word.
3- The date of publication on the fake article http://indianat.890m.com/bilcares-funny-accounting-figures/ is 17 Sep 2014. However, when we analyze the URL structure of the images in this article – http://indianat.890m.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/bilcare1.jpg, it reveals the article was planted in Oct 2015, just weeks before the DMCA was filed.
4- A look at its RSS feed http://indianat.890m.com/feed/ reveals that this News Porta has only 12 articles published in 2016.
5- Finally, since the sole purpose of this website was to file fake DMCAs, it was meant to be stealth. Hence it was shielded from Google Search –
SO WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO HIDE ?
Bilcare Ltd was concerned over an article published on Moneylife.in involving their funny accounting figures. Something didn’t make sense in the Pune-based (an Indian city new Bombay) Bilcare limited’s annual report for Financial Year 2013-14. As stated by moneylife.in –
During FY2014, Bilcare added Rs685 crore as fixed assets under tool & equipment, which is about 20% of the company’s total assets, even as its sales tumbled 45% and the company reported a loss of Rs121.5 crore
There are too many questions about Bilcare: huge loans, large losses and now dubious additions to fixed assets. And Bilcare did not want this to go public. So what could they do to remove this news article from Google ?
EDITOR’S COMMENT : For those who might ask – ‘why and how do we interject that ‘Bilcare Ltd’ has something to do with this fake DMCA. Couldn’t it be a coincidence ?’, we will say this – When someone goes and creates a whole new fake news site, falsifies his/her identity and submits fake DMCA to try and de-list some very targeted content on Google, it signals intent and a plan. It is obvious that ‘Bilcare Ltd’ or someone they hired was directly involved in this crime. Bilcare Ltd also cannot plead ignorance in this matter, since this notice on Google search is hard to miss, really.
